The first presidential inauguration was for George Washington on April 30th, 1789. On January 20th, 2025, (The same day as the anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr.) Donald Trump assumed office for the second time. His inauguration and the subsequent executive orders within 24 hours set the tone for his presidency. It is projected that he will serve from 2025-2029, in a non-consecutive term.
Donald Trump is not the first president to serve a non-consecutive term. The first was Stephen Grover Cleveland, who was both the 22nd and 24th president of the United States. He served from 1885-1889 and 1893-1897. That’s where the similarities end.
Trump is the first person without government or military experience ever to be elected president of the United States. Some say this qualifies him even more because he’s an “outsider looking in.” Experts disagree.
Just as a reminder, he is also the first president ever to be impeached twice. The first stemmed from a call then President Trump had with the President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine, in which Trump asked the Ukrainian President to announce investigations into President Biden and his family, as well as into unsubstantiated claims of interference in the 2016 election. At the time, Trump had withheld $400 million in military aid to Ukraine to pressure Zelensky. The second impeachment, much more severe, was for inciting an insurrection at the US Capitol during the certification of the election he lost.
January 6th, 2020: In Case You Missed It
The 2020 Presidential Election was marred with corruption, lies, and a complete unwillingness to accept defeat and in turn, reality itself. It happened like this:
After losing to Joe Biden, Donald Trump tried to overturn the election results with false slates of electors in seven states. His associates, and Republican party officials in these states passed the illegitimate certificates to VP Mike Pence so he would then count the false slates of electors, thus making it look like Trump had won. This would have broken the oath Pence took to the Constitution. Trumps attorneys Kenneth Chesebro and John Eastman claimed it was the switch and bait tactic known as the “Pence Card”.
According to testimony, Trump was aware of the fake elector’s scheme and knew that the plan was a violation of the Electoral Count Act. In a conference call that took place on January 2, 2021 with Rudy Giuliani, Trump, and Eastman; they spoke to over 300 Republican state legislators to accept the fake slates of electors, unlawfully overturning the results of a free and fair election and the will of the people. This would have made Trump president due to massive, seven-statewide election fraud.
On January 5, congressman Jim Jordan forwarded a text message he had received from Joseph Schmitz (Trump 2016 campaign foreign policy advisor) in which he wrote VP Mike Pence:
"Should call out all electoral votes that he believes are unconstitutional as no electoral votes at all".
Trump insisted that VP Mike Pence could overturn the election results, but Pence refused, and on January 6th, while the attempted insurrection was taking place, the President of the United States tweeted:
“Mike Pence didn't have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!”
Chants for the Vice President to be hung filled the lawn of the United States Capital building. Gallows were hung by Trump supporters.
Eventually, the attackers were expelled from the Capitol, and Pence counted the authentic certificates to certify Biden's victory.
Ronna McDaniel, RNC Committee chair, stated that Trump was fully aware of the fake elector’s plan, as Trump and Eastman had called her to "gather these contingent electors, in case any of the legal challenges that were ongoing changed the result of any of the states."
The Aftermath: Consequences?
On August 1, 2023, Jack Smith and the Justice Department requested a federal grand jury to indict Donald Trump on charges of conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy against rights, obstructing an official proceeding and conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding.
The indictment accused Trump of orchestrating a criminal conspiracy to subvert the 2020 election and identified the fake elector’s scheme as part of the conspiracy. The case was later dismissed after Trump won the 2024 election due to the Justice Department's policy of not prosecuting sitting presidents.
On May 31, 2024, a unanimous jury concluded Donald Trump committed 34 felonies in a scheme in 2017 to falsify financial records, in order to cover up reimbursements for a "hush money" payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels. Less than two weeks before Inauguration Day 2025, a New York judge declined to penalize Trump and wished him well as the next president.
On July, 1, 2024, The United States Supreme Court ruled that former presidents can never be prosecuted for actions relating to the core powers of their office, and that there is at least a presumption that they have immunity for their official acts more broadly.
A Dizzying Trend
Trump survived an assassination attempt while at a campaign rally on July 13, 2024 in Butler, Pennsylvania. Trump had a small cut in his ear and sported a ridiculously large bandage at the RNC event following the attempt on his life. This fashion statement was amplified into a national craze with over-sized ear bandages becoming the latest in the long line of weird fashion trends sported by the MAGA crowd including; diapers, the “Never Surrender” shirts depicting the convicted felon’s mugshot of his surrender to authorities, flags encouraging fornication with the sitting President: Joe Biden, the chanting of “let’s go Brandon” in a low intelligence quotient attempt to mask cursing and eternal damnation by the creator herself, the $500 Official Trump Sneakers, the NFT collections that depict Trump in the exact opposite manner in which he lived his life: such as a soldier, fireman, muscular, handsome, and having good posture. While this may seem like too much, it is never enough for Con-Man Don. The very week he took the office he released a meme crypto coin valued at $72 billion at its peak with the expected sharp decline shortly afterwards as just another of many pump and trump schemes.
Trump Takes the White House and Begins Dismantling the Constitution
President Biden exited the presidential race in July and Vice President Kamala Harris took his place with only three months until election day. Her campaign ran on hope and unity and raised over $1 billion in donations in just three months. While her campaign seemed to gain momentum and support, it ultimately was not enough to defeat Trump.
Day One, Can’t Be That Bad, Reich?
Trump’s first day in office was one to be remembered. The richest man on earth and complete simp for Trump, Elon Musk, took the stage at Trump’s inauguration and did a nazi salute twice in front of the world. This was the beginning of a long day as Trump headed directly to the White House to start signing executive orders left and right. Admitting on camera that he does not know what he’s signing he continued the deed with over 20 signed in total, a new presidential record. He continued signing executive orders into the first week of his Presidency, as well as annulling a number of others passed by previous presidents.
These executive orders included:
Mass deportations
Ending of birth right citizenship
Withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement
Ending equal opportunity employment rights
Pardoning all involved in January 6th capital attack except Ashley Babbitt
Withdrawing from the World Health Organization (and plans to withdraw from the UN)
Renaming the Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America
Deploying active-duty troops to the border
Making federal government declare there are only two genders
Expanding the death penalty
Increasing oil and gas drilling in Alaska
Eliminating Diversity Equity and Inclusion from the federal government.
And plenty more…
This did nothing for the price of eggs but definitely showed America that he is indeed following Project 2025 by the book.
